What's New?
(Updated October 18th, 2014)

Autumn is here, with its shorter days and crisp air. Along with cooler weather, the cold and flu season is now upon us. Massage can indeed improve your immunity, according to a study conducted at Cedars-Sinai and recounted in the LA Times. I highly recommend you receive regular massage sessions as part of a healthy lifestyle.

As much as I focus on my own healthy lifestyle, I am more susceptible to contagious illnesses than the average person. I literally touch people all day long in my professional practice. Additionally, I am often in environments where, even with the best procedures, I can't control my exposure.

My massage therapy practice includes working with pregnant women, newborns, and people who are critically ill or who may have decreased immunity. I don't want to be the person who passes a cold or the flu along. For this reason, I don't work when I am ill. Please please please do me the return favor. Do not come to a massage session when you are sick with a contagious illness. I will always accommodate your request for a reschedule due to a cold or the flu, and I will do my best to help you feel great as you recover.

Warmly,

Carolyn Hart, CMT

What's New?
(Updated September 4th, 2015).

I have Mirror-Touch synesthesia, a neurological condition that makes me involuntarily feel other people’s pain. I wrote about this condition, and how it lead me into my massage therapy career in a personal essay that was published by braindecoder.com. You can find that essay here. I am also blogging about synesthesia at https://voxsynaesthetica.wordpress.com
Blessings,

What's New?
(Updated March 3th, 2017)

I'm a massage therapist who has Mirror-Touch Synaesthesia, (MTS) a neurological phenomenon that makes me involuntarily feel on my skin what I see with my eyes. Like all synaesthesias, MTS is a conflation of the senses with a genetic basis. Currently, it's a very hot topic in the neuroscience community.  I'm delighted to have my experience with Mirror-Touch Synaesthesia revealed by the CNN property Great Big Story. Additionally, I actively document my synesthetic perception via my blog Vox Synaesthetica
